From early childhood I was interested in fashion and style, so haircuts for me are like a continuation of a complete image.

I was always drawn to creativity, painted graffiti, studied music, breakdancing, changed a million jobs. I first saw barbershops on YouTube, where I originally got my inspiration from. It was very difficult to find mentor or teacher, experience was gained through a complex process of trial and error. I had to try hundreds of different tools, search for information on my own in order to choose something really worthwhile.

I started cutting hair for friends, family and friends, after which I went to training “in the area”, for the simplest courses. At that time there was not a single barbershop in Odessa. After the opening of the first shop, I successfully completed an internship together with my two colleagues. You can say that we are the first barbers in Odessa, since we were the first staff in the first shop.

Two years later I became a manager, and that is when I started teaching. Two years after that I was invited to manage Preobrazhensky, where an academy soon opened, and I taught there for several years. Together with Preobrazhensky we organised barber meet-ups, where I was the host. I have led and judged barber events all over Ukraine.

In July 2020 I opened my own barbershop in Odessa, Luther Barbershop. “Odessa-Mama” is not just a job for me, it is a gathering of old friends and acquaintances, a family where everyone loves and supports in development, and in life in general.

I’ve been in barbering since 2019. During that time, I’ve grown from working with my first clients to becoming a Grand Barber and educator. For me, barbering is about more than cutting techniques. It’s about understanding shape, detail, and which look suits each individual.

When teaching, my priority is to help students understand what they’re doing and why, rather than simply copying their instructor’s movements. We spend a lot of time on hands-on practice, exploring shape, longer haircuts, fades, beard work, and tailoring each haircut to the client.

I teach students the skills and techniques I use every day in my own work. My goal is to give them a solid foundation, develop their control and precision, and train their eye for a haircut, so they can work confidently after completing the academy and continue developing independently.
